Freescale Semiconductor Romania began its activity in June 2000 as part of Motorola and it spun-off as an independent company in June 2004. The team that initially had five people counts today more than 250 talented engineers and it has gradually become a true center of excellence in software. Innovation is what we stand for us, with all the four business units present in Romania:
1) Freescale Semiconductor’s Cellular Products Group (CPG) develops leading 3G and LTE system solutions which include basebands processors, RF transceivers, and power management. 3GPP LTE (Long Term Evolution) is the name given to a project to improve the UMTS mobile phone standard to cope with future requirements.
The team in Romania is creating the software for the 3G modem stack, platform simulation environment and HW validation tools.
The software created by the Romanian team is incorporated in the mobile phones based on our cellular platforms and enables Freescale customers to make the difference on the market in terms of features and quality.
2) Freescale Semiconductor’s Developer Technology Organization (DevTech) helps customers experience and fully leverage the performance of Freescale products.
Our primary product offerings include award-winning CodeWarriorâ„¢ development tools with compilers, debuggers, performance and analysis tools, silicon bring-up technology, and runtime technology for Linux, DSP OS, OSEK, AutoSAR.
Innovation is the driving force behind CodeWarriorâ„¢ technology. As a comprehensive software development solution, the backbone is the CodeWarriorâ„¢ integrated development environment, built on Eclipse open source framework. Using CodeWarriorâ„¢, developers get the benefit of using common functionality across a broad range of Freescale processors and platforms.
3) Freescale Semiconductor’s Networking & Multimedia Group (NMG) is a global leader in programmable processing and connectivity solutions for the converging networking, communications and pervasive computing markets.
The Network Communication Software Team in NMG Romania provides embedded networking solutions for last generation PowerQuicc communication processors, including microcode, drivers, demo applications and benchmarking on bare board and Linux OS.
The Packet Telephony Software Team in NMG Romania provides DSP software for voice & tone processing, video processing and data transmission, building complete voice and video media gateway solutions based on drivers, real-time operating systems, protocol stacks, and software components.
4) Freescale Semiconductor's Wireless Connectivity Operation (WCO) group offers to it's customers a comprehensive solution for wireless networking based on the ZigBee/802.15.4 standards. The solution includes RF ICs, MCUs, protocol stack software, sample application and development tools. Freescale is the market leader for ZigBee, 802.15.4 and derivatives, with more than 50% market share. (ON World, 2007)
WCO Romania group provides the software part of Freescale’s ZigBee/802.15.4 platform: from low-level components (start-up code and drivers for ARM7 and HC08), the data link layer, various networking layers, up to sample applications and deployment solutions.
